What is Peripheral Neuropathy?
Peripheral neuropathy literally means distant nerve abnormalities. There are many types, causes and progression of these disorders.
What are some of the symptoms?
Symptoms depend on the nerve fibers that are damaged. Symptoms include heightened sensitivity, burning, tingling, weakness, loss of sensation and other abnormal sensory or motor symptoms.
What are some causes of Peripheral Neuropathy?
About 80% of peripheral neuropathy in the United States is caused from alcohol consumption and/or diabetes. Other causes include vitamin deficiencies, tumors, exposure to toxins, autoimmune and/or vascular disorders.
What can I do?
Treatment depends on figuring out the cause.
